Yesterday a transformer (not the robotic kind) blew up in the back alley just behind thisCastle. Immediately afterwards, the electricity went off then came back on. I went outside to see what was going on, and I noticed that the hydro lines were waving around like crazy. Also, I saw chunks of insulation from the wires all over the lane.
I went back in the house and called Hydro to let them know that they might want to send someone to check out what had happened. Soon after that, police cars and fire trucks and ambulances arrived, crawling around the neighbourhood with sirens blasting, looking for something or other.
Both Barbara and Stuart have windows that face onto the alley, right near the pole where the transformer sits. Barbara mentioned the explosion to Stuart, and he said "What explosion?" He hadn't heard the explosion, and nor did did he see the emergency vehicles or hear their sirens.
I have always suspected that Stuart was randomly deaf and blind, and now I know.
